How Do Ductless Systems Work?
Ductless mini splits are types of heat pumps, so they can either deliver heating or cooling for a home depending on the direction they circulate refrigerant. Unlike standard heat pumps, which have a single indoor unit connected to ductwork, a ductless mini split heat pump uses multiple indoor units. These air handlers are mounted on the walls of rooms where they send conditioned air directly into the space. They connect to the single outdoor unit through refrigerant and power lines that pass through the back wall.
